FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

While living and working in California, I don’t not have many chances to photograph maternity sessions inside my clients' homes.  We prefer to stay outside, soak in the sun and explore beautiful locations. However, I must admit that in-home maternity sessions are easily becoming some of my favorites.  This session was photographed at my client's beautiful home. It is a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home built in the 1970s.  The architectural design is stunning, as well as the mid-century furnishings.

About the Session

We photographed in quite a few different areas throughout the home, but the living room was definitely my favorite.  I loved the amount of natural light pouring in through the long narrow windows despite the cloudy day.  Corina's craft room was another one of my favorite rooms.  I am not a crafty person, but I bet even I could create something super cute in there.

In addition to their wonderful home, I had the opportunity to capture the loving expectation of my clients awaiting their first child.  They were a wonderful duet (along with their beautiful cat).   They are expecting a girl and I cannot wait to photograph her in the coming weeks.

I just finished processing Marika and Dean's in home maternity session and I could not be any happier with the result.  Marika had a perfect pregnancy glow and looked stunning in every shot. Their home is impeccable. It looked as if it was straight out of interior design magazines.  The light was amazing thanks to the large windows and tall ceilings.  This maternity session was perfect in every way.

About the Session

As soon as I walked through the door, the beauty of their home amazed me. With it's tall ceilings, and windows on every side, the light was soft yet bright enough. I wanted to showcase the stunning details of the living room and bedroom and that is where we spent most of our time. Marika's outfits were amazing. They fit snug and allowed the belly to be the focus of every image.  The love between Marika and Dean and their beaming excitement of what is to come in the following weeks was prevalent. I hope it translates well into these images.

FLEETING MOMENTS | PRECIOUS MEMORIES

There is nothing more satisfying in my business then photographing for friends or in this case cousins of a close friend of mine. On top of it, this session was a gift to them, a surprise, that I got to reveal in a phone call upon baby Juul's birth.  I had a wonderful time during this in home newborn session in  a lovely Ukranian Village neighborhood of Chicago.  It was so great to meet everyone and enjoy a few hours we had together.

About the Session

Most newborn photographers prefer their subject to be asleep.  Not me!  I really don't have a preference.  I like to photograph babies as they truly are and this sweet girl was alert and engaged with the environment around her for most of the session.  With her wide open eyes, she examined carefully what is going on. My camera clicking seemed to soothe her.  Even at only two weeks old, she had a full array of expressions that I hope to have captured. Eventually, the sleep did win...at least for a few moments.

My favorite images is the one right below.  I love how little Juul struck the pose by placing her tiny hand right under the chin. Cute as a button!
