Are you looking for unique maternity photo ideas? If so, take a look at this blog post. It could spark just the right amount of inspiration to get you to plan the maternity photoshoot of your dreams. This session was photographed at a private horse ranch where we were able to make use of my client’s classic car as our primary prop.
Sometimes when you think of props for maternity photoshoots you may think of traditional items like baby shoes or sonogram photos but it can definitely be more elaborate and unique. If selected with care and purpose, props can add another dimension to the images.
Props can either have a special meaning or provide background in the portrayal of your personal visual story, For example, my clients brought a book of crossword puzzles with them because they do the puzzles together every Sunday. The time they spend together on this hobby holds a lot of meaning for them and it was a perfect addition to our session. When they began working on a puzzle at the shoot, they shared a special moment with smiles and laughter, it was almost as if I was not present. I actually had to remind them that we needed to move onto something else because the sun was setting. Another item that they wanted to include was a baby book. As they read the old classic “Guess How Much I Love You” their gestures became more animated and you could see the excitement and anticipation about what was to come.
When planning your maternity session, I would suggest starting first with a concept. Once you have the main idea, you and your photographer can proceed with further planning. Props are not necessary, but they can help you tell a story. Choose them wisely.
These pregnancy pictures were the first part of the Baby to Bump package that I offer. I can't wait for the second part where I get to meet the little baby boy who is hiding in these photos.
